A drop of Vinegar

From the Orchard into your body, an incredible journey

Hey Hi, we’re back at it!

I decided to go on a streak of favourite foods/ingredients of mine these past few weeks.

Today I’d like to talk to you about Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar, and not any kind of apple cider… this one has Mother inside.

Yeah I know, weird name, what is this Mother? Well think of it as a by-product of the fermentation process, which contains all the good stuff that fermentation brings when transforming the apples into cider vinegar.

This gooey strandy alien sitting in it, it’s in reality the Mother, full of anti-oxidants, minerals and bio-active compounds.

I’ve learned about it first from a book (which I highly recommend) called: Gut Check from Steven R. Gundry, MD.

In this book, dr Gundry explains how pairing up fermented and polyphenols rich foods helps you having a healthier mitochondrial activity. A great parallel he makes in the book is about the Mitochondria being some sort of exclusive clubs (Mito club) where only a certain number of protons and electrons can enter and how sometimes they could be overcrowded until a new “junction“ is open of the same clubs.

In other words, it helps you burn more energy and efficiently, by allowing your large intestine produce enough butyrate which helps the “mitochondria uncoupling“ (the opening of new junctions)

I’ve personally been using unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with Mother) every day for almost a year by now and started using it while a was struggling with some weight loss and management, it actually works wonders. However, truth to be told, this only works if you also have a well balanced diet (so don’t just chug vinegar please).

In Chinese Medicine it is related with cleansing of Qi and Blood, and specifically with Liver, it’s a sort of Liv3 point in a cup, which moves clogged up and stagnant energy in your body.

Now to what everyone was waiting for, how is it advisable to assume it, I personally assume it daily, however my advice is to give it a go and see how you feel by assuming it. It is advised to not exceed 2 teaspoons in a cup of water per day drinking with a straw (I do usually have a teaspoon before lunch and one before dinner, with 2 glasses of water),

Last but not least, if you have any allergies or conditions for which you have dietary limitation, please consult your physician first before taking any new supplement or ingredient, this is a very generic blog post on a spice I use since a long while so do take care on how you approach it, as everything in life.
