Fertility Support
Fertility support acupuncture at Acugio offers thoughtful, individual support for people who are preparing for conception or moving through fertility-related treatment. Care is shaped with sensitivity to both the physical and emotional demands that often accompany a fertility journey.
Whether you are at an early stage of trying to conceive or already undergoing assisted reproduction, treatment is designed to support your wider wellbeing in a calm, grounded, and carefully considered way.
Who is may be for
This support may be relevant if you are:
- preparing for conception
- looking for acupuncture alongside a wider fertility plan
- moving through IVF or other assisted reproduction treatment
- wanting support with stress, uncertainty, or the emotional strain that fertility treatment can bring
What to expect
Appointments begin with a detailed conversation about your health, cycle, goals, and current circumstances so treatment can be tailored to you with care and clarity. The aim is to understand the broader picture, not just a single concern in isolation.
Evidence and approach
Researchers have been looking at whether acupuncture may support people going through fertility treatment. A 2018 systematic review and meta-analysis of 12 randomised controlled trials, including over 3,000 women, found that acupuncture was associated with higher live birth rates for women having IVF or ICSI compared with usual care alone (Smith et al., 2018). Other reviews have noted that when acupuncture was given around embryo transfer, clinical pregnancy rates appeared better, though the overall quality of evidence was graded as low, meaning the true effect may differ from what the studies suggest (Qian et al., 2019). The researchers recommend that future studies focus on acupuncture during ovarian stimulation rather than only around embryo transfer. Acupuncture is often used alongside conventional fertility care, and should complement — not replace — the advice you receive from your fertility clinic.
How treatment may support you
Treatment is shaped around the individual and can form part of a broader wellbeing approach during a fertility journey.
